Michael Felger of The Boston Herald reports that Patriots Vice President of Player Personnel Scott Pioli turned down an offer to join the Seattle Seahawks, an deal that was reported to be worth $15 million over five years by ESPN's Chris Mortensen. Felger points out that Pioli, who makes less than $1 million with the Patriots, said in December he intends to honor his current contract that runs through the 2006 Draft.

On the national scene, SI's Peter King has two Patriots-related items in his Monday Morning QB column. First he offers an update on Philadelphia wide receiver Freddie Mitchell, who says, among other things, the Eagles would beat the Patriots eight out of 10 times. "To me, the Patriots are not that good," Mitchell told King. "We turn it over four times, and still they only beat us by three. We're the better team." ... King also offers insight into the status of cornerback Ty Law, who he believes will be traded by the Patriots prior to the April 23 NFL Draft.
